Antimicrobial potential of selected arid and semi-arid plants against urinary tract infection causing pathogens through GC-MS and FTIR analysis

The purpose of this study was to investigate the presence phytoconstituents in extracts Convolvulus microphyllus, Acacia nilotica, Withania somnifera, Tribullus terrestris, and Citrullus colocynthis, test their anti-microbial activity against most common strains causing bacterial urinary tract infection (UTI). dried powdered plant parts were extracted using five different solvents a Soxhlet apparatus for 48 h at temperature ranging from 60 80°C. These used preliminary phytochemical antimicrobial analyses. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) with scan range 450 4000/cm 4/cm resolution GC-MS analysis carried out analyse samples phytochemicals having activity. methanolic extract Tribulus terrestris found have promising antibacterial properties. results revealed that displayed significant uropathogens, especially Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa Candida albicans. Phytochemicals like steroids, glycosides alkaloids T. terrestris. FTIR 50 compounds. We conclude fruit has more potent than other standard antibiotics study. In future, additional investigation will be required isolate active compound, undertake toxicological investigations, start clinical trial.
